All I draw is faces, digitally. And today, I was reminded how bad I am at drawing anything other than faces. Even more traditionally. Ugh.
Today I had Basic Illustration class. Since it was the first meeting, there wasn't much instead of basic introduction. There were two lecturers, one younger than the other one (I'm going to call OL for the old lecturer and YL for the younger one from now). After they introduce themselves, YL checked the class presence by calling everyone's name one by one. There were 63 students in the class... I felt a little bad for him. It must be tiring!
After that, OL asked whether any of us can't draw. Some of us shook our head in response. Well, of course! We had passed a year doing nothing but drawing in Drawing Fundamentals class.... Drawing is nothing, right? So he told us to draw mountains, clouds, birds, houses, trees, snakes, river, and a bridge in A4 paper. Oops, most of us didn't bring any paper! OL went to get some and YL told us to bring some A4 sketchbook next time. After I got my paper, game on! This is going to be a piece of cake.
...or so I thought.
But throughout the 3 months holiday, I did not draw anything but faces and it made my skill rusty. Waaay too rusty to be saved. I felt really ashamed of myself.... Boohoo, I think I was so lousy! As soon as class ended, I handed over my cringe-y drawing and never want to look back.
When I got home, I thought, hey, why not try drawing it again, now digitally? Who knows, maybe it'll turn out better. Yet... nope, nope. All I can think is ew. I really should practice on background more. Seriously. Next time, I want to do better. I will do better. But for now, have this piece of... bad drawing to laugh at.
xoxo
